Almost two weeks since Sarah's clean scan...what a wonderful two weeks it has been!  It's been the first time we have been able to breathe easy, and just worry about normal every-day things.  The relief is amazing, the peace almost tangible.  With life being so easy I have to stop and remind myself to cherish each moment, and take time to live life not just watch it pass by.  I remind myself to show people I love them, not just tell them.  Life is short, and so very fragile. Take time to show your love for others today.
"Love the people God gave you because He will need them back someday."

Sarah is doing really well!  Her hair on the back of her head is long enough to get the cutest little bedhead.  The rest of her hair will come soon enough but until then I get to look at her beautiful scar and be constantly reminded of the miracles we have seen.  She will be followed closely with frequent MRI's, kidney function tests, EKG's, hearing tests, eye screenings and more.

Some people have asked if there have been any cognitive side effects, and I am so grateful to say Sarah is a totally normal two year old girl.   She loves playing at the park, racing with her siblings, and playing hide and seek...she's really good at it too!! My awesome friend Witney Loftin is helping Sarah with speech because she is currently content with smiling and pointing, saying a few words here and there.  When she saw Witney today she ran past me into the speech room totally ready to learn and play.  She loves it!  (If your kids need a little extra help communicating I highly recommend her!)

We have been so touched by all the kindness and generosity our family has received and continues to receive...it is truly humbling!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

    It is such a blessing to see a living walking energetic 2 year old miracle living among us. You are right, we need to show those we love that we love them. Love is a verb and needs action. Thanks for the reminder. You are amazing.

    McKell, this is Jill pharmacist from Homecare. I am so incredibly touched and happy about sweet Sarah. I will keep your family in my heart forever! I can't believe what you have been through. It is with sweet joy that I will close Sarah's chart at Homecare. Please know that you have left a fingerprint on my life and I will never forget you!

Sarah's Story

On Wednesday September 6, 2017 Sarah woke up and threw up one time.  She was fine the rest of the day and we played outside.  That evening while Hannah, Camden, Sarah, and I were playing outside Sarah starting acting weird.  She laid her head on the cement and tried to sleep so I took all the kids in for showers and bed.  She fell asleep waiting for the shower.  She threw up, then fell back asleep.  I assumed she caught something from nursery. It has been an eventful week for Miss Sarah! Last Monday she started chemo.  Her dressing was removed to prevent skin burns from Thiotepa.  3x daily baths begin.   Tuesday, more chemo and more baths.  During one of her baths I notice her line looks like it’s come out slightly.  They do a chest x-ray…it has come out a little, but it is still in just far enough.   Wednesday we give Sarah her first bath of the day and the line has come out at least two inches.  We hurry and put her gauze wrap on to hold what is left of the line in place.  Another chest x-ray confirms the line is out of place.  The gauze comes off for her next bath and the line just falls out.  She needs a new line placed before her counts drop but after the crazy skin burning chemo has been out of her system for 48 hours.  That evening I realized she would be going in for surgery the next day and hadn’t had a priesthood blessing.  I text the Branch Pr...
